Music in My Life

I’m always amazed at the power of music and how it can help heal and inspire people. Lately I’ve been amazed about how music finds you at the right times and the timing of certain releases.

Around this time last year I was at the beginning of a relationship. I was scared to let myself fall in love and was holding back. Thompson Square released their cd around the same time as I was having this struggle with myself to let go and just love. The first time I put the cd in and their song “Glass” came on, I cried. It kind of summed up how I was feeling and helped me feel better about falling in love even though there was the possibility that I’d get hurt.

Here it is about a year later and that relationship just ended and now “Glass” is their new single. I was feeling hurt and disappointed but hearing “Glass” reminded me about how hard it was for me to let myself love, and how I decided to just love and knew that we may not make it but I wanted to know if we could.

Also interestingly I started to really like Katy Perry around the beginning of the relationship. I ended up buying tickets to her concert and bought her albums. Her Teenage Dream album became almost a soundtrack for our relationship and my feelings. I connected to so many of those songs, and it helped me love. Katy Perry was a newlywed at the same time.

Then in December while I was in Arizona for Christmas, I found out that Katy Perry and Russell had separated. At the same time, my own relationship was falling apart. This past weekend my relationship was completely over, and Katy Perry performed at the Grammy’s. She sang a new song “Part of Me” which is a great break up song. It is helping me move on.

Days Difference Challenge

Day 12- Favorite Stickam Chat Moment

They had signed off and this was the image that stayed.

Day 13-Your Favorite thing about/picture of Jeremy

I like that he is VERY confident, but not cocky. He is very approachable. He also has a great sense of humor and is fun to talk to.

Day 14 – Your Favorite thing about/picture of Jonathan

This one is kind of tough. I feel like I haven’t talked to him as much as I have with the other guys. He is very sweet like everyone else. umm..I know I like that he is the manliest of the guys.

Days Difference Challenge Day 11

Your Favorite interview or fan recorded/fan made video

My favorite interview was towards the end of this past summer. They did an interview at a festival that they played. They played a game where the interviewer would say something like “who is the biggest flirt” and each guy had cards with the band members names on it and they would hold up their answers. It was really funny to watch.

Days Difference Challenge Day 7

Day 07 – A Song you wish Days Difference would cover

I think it would be funny if they covered a rap or hip hop song, like “Teach Me How to Dougie” or maybe a Katy Perry song like “Teenage Dream” It would be interesting if they did an old pop song like from Hanson or NSYNC.

I think they would do a great job with “Airplanes”

107.5 presents Hot Chelle Rae

Thursday night I attended the 107.5 the River show at The Rutledge. The night was full of Nashville artists. The doors were set to open at 7:30. I got in line around 6:20. I was pleasantly surprised that the line was still very short. It was pretty cold out, so it was really nice when doors opened about 10 minutes early. I was able to be in the front row.

First up was Since Forever. I had found out about them back in January when they were promoting themselves outside the Take Action Tour show, but I’ve never seen them live. I honestly was not that impressed. I know they have a pretty dedicated fan base, but I don’t see the appeal. ALTHOUGH I know their lead singer had nose surgery that morning and wasn’t there. I feel like I need to see them live again, when the whole band is there. It probably makes a big difference.

Next was Enjoy the Zoo. Before the show I had looked them up online. They didn’t appear to be a band I would like. Boy was I wrong! They were awesome! They rocked the Rutledge so hard. I really liked their sound and they had amazing energy.  I usually don’t get “fangirly” but I was close to it with them. The lead singer kept coming over and singing to me. I’m assuming that was because I was one of the few in the front row actually dancing. I was hoping to buy their cd, but I didn’t see a merch table for them.

The night went by very quickly, but it was a great time. Before I knew it, Hot Chelle Rae was taking the stage. When their set list was taped down on the stage, I was ecstatic. Not only was it a long set..12 songs!!…but they were playing “Heart Hurts” from their B side. They came on and the energy in the room was awesome. They played their entire cd, plus “Heart Hurts” and a couple new songs. RK mentioned that they had to play new songs, because they didn’t have enough other songs to fill the set.

When they started to sing “Bleed,” you could hear everyone in the audience singing. RK stopped and just let us sing. That had to be an amazing feeling for them!! There is the line “I’ve always dreamed about this moment” and I noticed RK smile when he sang that. I couldn’t help but wonder if it was because everyone was singing along. That has to be a dream for any musician.

Throughout their set, only a few people in the front row were dancing (myself included). I was sure that when they finished off with “I Like to Dance” that everyone would be dancing. I was wrong!! Neither of the girls next to me were dancing. They were both taking pictures and videos all night! I know I have done that, but never when I in the front row. I personally think it is very rude to just take pictures and not really enjoy the show when you are in the front row.

I definitely enjoyed myself! It was a great night! The crowd and the bands were both full of energy. This was my first time at The Rutledge. I really liked it, and hope to go back in the near future.
